Unit 10 Digital Photography Task 1

Components of a digital camera and equipment
Features of a digital cameras is that when you click the button to take the picture on a digital camera, an aperture opens up at the front of the camera. Once this happens a light shines in through the lens of the camera. There is an electronic equipment within the digital camera called CCD which captures the light rays and turns them into electrical signals.

This is an example of a digital Camera which I found on google images be searching Camera and I took it from this website                                                                                                                          http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Cameras/b?ie=UTF8&node=560836

Manual mode is a function in a camera that allows you to have complete control over everything for example zooming in and out or focusing, you can adjust the focus of the cameras lens by hand. A camera lens also known as photographic lens or photographic objective is an optical lens or assembly of lenses used in conjunction with a camera body and mechanism to make images of objects either on photographic or on other media capable of storing an image electronically on the camera..

DSLR is a device in a camera that uses mirrors in the camera to direct what you are taking a photo of to your eyes so that you know what your photograph is going to look like and be of. Automatic mode in a camera is where you don’t have control over certain things of the camera such as the lens aperture and the shutter speed because it is all automatic doing it by itself. However some drawbacks is that you might want control over the camera for example if you’re in a location with poor lighting you want to adjust the camera to make it brighter it would require you to use manual mode however if you’re in a situation where you want to take a photo which is focused and still then using automatic mode would be the best.

You can also take photographs on smartphones and advantages of this are that they are very light and portable allowing you to just take them out to take a photograph at any time of day in addition to this there are a huge amount of apps dedicated to photography which allow you to tweak exposure and add frames, add filters remove colour or even create slow motion movies. However some disadvantages is that they will not have as good quality or storage as a camera.  The viewfinder in a camera is what you look through when you are going to take a picture of something It is the main optical system. The lens of a camera is what allows the camera to be able to view everything it is the eyes of the camera that allows you to look at throught. Cameras will always have memory cards which are devicies put into the camera that store the data from lots of different photos, when it memory card is full it prevents you taking any more pictures. So you are required to change the memory card with a new one and if you would like to keep all the pictures you can download them from you memory card oin computes etc.
the viewfinder. This is an example of the camera on a smart phone which I found on google images and took from this website

Cameras also have a device called the Flash, this is a great feature to a camera as it illuminates dark places. For example if you was taking a photo in dark lighting or outside at night time then the camera would produce a flash to create light for a split second so that when the photo is taken it is clear and brighter than it would be if it was just taken as an ordinary picture. There is also a feature known as the photograph's exposure this determines how light or dark your picture will appear once it has been taken by your camera. So this allows you to determine if you should take the shot or not and adjust the settings. There are also cameras which are called colour cameras, a camera of a special design for making colour-separation. For example maybe your picture has come out red and bright because of the background well the colour camera allows you to remove certain colours so you could remove or even add colours to be in your photograph. Lighting is the illumination of scenes to be photographed. A photograph records light, colour, and shade; lighting is important in controlling the image. In many cases even illumination is desired to give an accurate photograph of the scene you’re capturing. In a camera there is a setting called the White Balance setting and it lets you choose or change the colour in your pictures. You can make the colours brighter to make it look warmer, or darker to make it look colder etc. Your camera’s White Balance gives you more control over colour.

Hand-held cameras also known as hand-held shooting is a filmmaking and video production technique. The camera is held in the operator's hands instead of being put onto a tripod or other base. .  In photography, a tripod is used to stabilize and elevate a camera, a flash unit, or other photographic equipment. All photographic tripods have three legs and a mounting head to couple with a camera. Hand-held cameras are used because they are sized for travel so you can take them almost anywhere. In addition to this hand held cameras also allow greater freedom of motion during filming.  However a tripod would be heavy and hard to carry around meaning you have less freedom of motion when filming and you cannot really travel with then as you do with handheld cameras
