E-Newspapers Photographs on the front cover to E-newspapers would be the picture of
whatever is being mentioned in the main story that is being published in the
news. For example if the main story was about a football then there would be
photos of footballers and football teams, these pictures would be very detailed
so you can see them clearly. There would also be huge bold text as the title of
the paper so that it stands out and catches the reader’s eye.
Here is an example of a front cover to an E-newspaper as you
can see the letters are huge saying ChemManager Europe which is the name of the
E-Newspaper
E-Magazines
Photography
featured in the front covers of E-Magazines would be quite similar to the
photos in front covers of E-Newspapers. Whatever the magazine is about would
have photos that relate to the topic featured in the front cover. For example
if the magazine was about a TV show then on the front cover there would be
actors which are very recognisable that everyone knows. From this you can
instantly tell if this is what you want to read or not if you don’t have an
interest in the programme you know not to read it.
DVD Covers Photography which is shown on the front cover of a DVD
film have images of the main characters which are stared in the film. There may
also be a picture or an important location where the film is set in. In
addition to this the cover may just have a prop or something that represents
the movie for example on the front of superman’s DVD Cover it has a big letter
S which represents him so upon seeing that you instantly know that this film is
superman. However most DVD covers have a picture of the main characters which
are featured in the film such as the Lego movie which has the main characters
on the front cover.
Books
Photography which is shown on the covers of books is varied between
the different type of book it is, for example if it is a toddler’s/ children’s
book then the cover would be filled with colour and pictures. However books for adults/teenagers are much
more mature and usually just have the title of the book along with a background
that represents the story. Below are some examples.
This is a more mature book aimed at an older age group and
you can see the front cover is very dark and dull, with the title of the book
placed at the top. There is also an outline picture of a dragon which gives you
the idea that this story must have something to do with the fantasy world etc.
This is a cover of a children's book called the very hungry caterpillar, you can instantly tell it is for children by the colours which are
used, it is very bright and stands out so that it attracts children, also the
picture of the caterpillar looks like it could have been drawn by a child this
is so that children can relate to the picture.
Instruction/ training
manuals
Pictures in instructions
and training manuals would be pictures that represent or show how to do
something. For example if you buy a tent it would usually come with a
instruction or training manual which will tell you how to set up the tent with
text and pictures. First you have to set up the pegs and hammer them into the
ground, the instruction training manual would show this with a picture of a
person being real or a cartoon setting up the pegs and hammering them into the
ground. So the phtos are usually put
together step by step like a comic.
